Vegan Pizza Rolls Recipe: Easy Cheesy and Delicious!

Ingredients
For the pizza sauce:

  • 1tbsp


    olive oil

  • 1


    oniondiced

  • 3cloves


    garlicminced

  • 2sticks


    celeryfinely sliced

  • 1handful


    basilroughly chopped

  • 2tsp


    oregano

  • 1tin


    chopped tomatoes

  • 1tbsp


    tomato puree

  • 2tbsp


    nutritional yeast

  • 1


    vegetable stock cube

  • 100ml


    water

For the pizza rolls:

  • 2


    pre rolled puff pastry sheetsMost are vegan, including jus rol

  • 200grams


    grated vegan cheese



  • plant based milkoptional

Instructions
For the pizza sauce:
  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C.

  2. Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over a medium heat.

  3. Add the onion, garlic and celery and cook for 4-5 minutes until soft.

  4. Add the basil and oregano and cook for a further 2 minutes.

  5. Add the chopped tomatoes, tomato puree, nutritional yeast, stock cube and water to the pan. Stir until well combined.

  6. Leave to bubble gently for 10 minutes, adding a small bit more water if required. Make sure the sauce is nice and thick before you remove from the heat.

  7. Add the mixture to a blender and blend until smooth.

For the pizza rolls:
  1. Roll out the puff pastry sheets flat.

  2. Spread a thin layer of the pizza sauce on the pastry sheets. You don’t necessarily need to use all the sauce as the pastry needs to cook well. If you have excess, it makes a great pasta sauce!

  3. Spread the vegan cheese evenly across the pastry sheets.

  4. Roll each puff pastry sheet along the long end of the pastry to make a thicker pastry roll (rather than a longer one). Make sure not to roll too tightly.

  5. Cut the big pastry roll into roughly 12 x 2cm thick slices.

  6. Arrange the pizza rolls evenly on baking sheets, spiral facing up.

  7. Brush the top of the pizza rolls with the plant based milk, if using.

  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
